Make Sure To Attend UMHB Women’s Soccer ‘Kick Cancer’ on Oct. 11 In Belton
"Teamwork Makes the Dream Work" is more than just a saying — it's a way of life for the Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer team in Belton, Texas.

The UMHB Soccer 'Kick Cancer' Night is Back! Here's Everything You Need to Know
According to KCENT, Jayme Dowell, a senior at the university, recently shared the heartbreaking news that her father, Jimmy Dowell, had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. A longtime coach, Jimmy received the diagnosis in May and began radiation treatments on October 14.
“You never like to hear the ‘C’ word — ever,” Jimmy said. “The rough part is coming.” Understandably, the diagnosis came as a shock to Jayme. “It was kind of a shock just because my dad has always been my Superman,” she shared.

Though this is undoubtedly a difficult time for the Dowell family, they are not alone. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) women’s soccer team — the Crusaders — has launched a Kick Cancer fundraiser. They are selling T-shirts and hosting a large sale to help cover the family’s medical expenses. Every cent raised from the fundraiser will be directly donated to support the Dowells. This is what it’s all about — coming together as a community and lifting each other. And the Crusaders are doing just that.
The event takes place on October 11, and supporters can now purchase the cancer awareness T-shirts.
