The Kiss GoodNight Slow Jam Of The Night: “Nightshift” – Commodores

Last weekend, while at a wedding reception (and while the drinks were flowing), my good friend Eric and I were discussing 80's R&B videos. He brought up this video which I never knew even existed.

If you notice anything about "Nightshift" at first glance, Lionel Richie is gone. In 1985 Richie was in the middle of his pop dominance and had long left the group. This song would be the "Commodores" first and biggest hit after his departure.The group didn't want the song to be released as a single but they won a Grammy(the band's first in its long career) later that year for "Nightshift" so things worked out great for the guys.
