Texas Stabbing Causes 38 Students to Withdraw from Roy J. Smith Middle School
According to KWTX, after two weeks, Texas middle school, Roy J. Smith Middle School, had to endure a very traumatic situation in which a young lady was fatally stabbed on campus during an altercation. As children are returning to school, Killeen Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Fey stated that at one point, there was a 93% attendance rate on Tuesday, despite 38 students withdrawing from Roy Smith. Although Superintendent Jo Ann Fey reassured parents that the school district will be more proactive about addressing bullying on campus, many parents have still decided to withdraw their children.

Dr. Fey stated, "We do not have a choice in violence. What we have is a consistent pattern of violence in our schools, including fighting and assaults. Those are serious issues, and if we have an assault on a staff member who tries to break up a fight and is assaulted by a student, we will move forward with a recommendation for expulsion for up to 180 days."
