Texans Are Receiving Up To $1,751 In SNAP Benefits, Here’s Why
For the month of November, options are changing for the Texas Supplemental Nutrition Application Program also known as SNAP. According to the Washington Examiner Texans can find themselves receiving up to $1751 more of SNAP benefits. When any type of changes happen to the SNAP program and it’s increased there are opinions, good and bad about it.
CHANGES ARE HAPPENING IN THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER
Today November 2 will actually be the first opportunity for Texans to receive the SNAP program increase. The way Texas calculates its SNAP payments is based on how many people are in the household. For example, a single household receiving $291.08 members would receive $1751, and if there is a family larger than eight a grant of an extra $217 for every additional member is possible says the Texas Health and Human Service Commission. Keep in mind the SNAP program does not base it’s eligibility on anything besides the household income. SNAP benefits don’t have anything to do with your credit or rental history.
HOW DO A TEXANS GET THE SNAP INCREASE?
A person who lives in a single household will need to make less than 1$869 a month in a five-person household cannot make more than $4465 a month to be considered eligible. If you are considered eligible for this program and increase, keep in mind, that SNAP benefits can only be spent on nonalcoholic drinks, and on food, miscellaneous items, and bills are not considered for SNAP benefits.
