A Temple teenager was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of having fatally shot a young woman.

Early Wednesday morning, Temple PD responded to the shooting in the 1800 block of East French Avenue around 12:19 AM. Whey they arrived, they found 19-year-old Claire Hernandez suffering from a gunshot wound.

Hernandez was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with life-threatening injuries. Police later reported that she died in the hospital as a result of her injuries.

Police say their suspect, 18-year-old Chris DeLeon, was still at the scene of the shooting when officers arrived. He was arrested and transported to the Bell County Jail. Records show DeLeon was booked at 4:16 AM Wednesday and charged with an unspecified third degree felony.

Sadly, this was not the only shooting being investigated in Central Texas Wednesday.

Killeen police were called to the scene of a domestic disturbance that escalated into a murder-suicide late Tuesday night. Investigators say it appears that a man and his wife were fighting when the man drew a handgun and shot the woman. When police arrived at the scene, the man turned the gun on himself, ending his own life. To make matters worse, children were present in the home at the time. Thankfully, they were not physically harmed.

Killeen police were also investigating a shooting that occurred near the Killeen Mall Wednesday afternoon, leaving one person injured. Police said a suspect was in custody, but did not release further details.

Meanwhile, Killeen police reported Wednesday afternoon that a suspect is in custody after a man fatally shot at the Crew Hookah Lounge on Watercrest early Sunday morning. Police did not release the suspect's name, but identified the victim as 25-year-old Anthony Newton.
