A new range wildfire caused a large cloud of smoke that could be seen for miles throughout Killeen and Harker Heights on Tuesday afternoon.

According to The Fort Hood Press Center, the fire occured in the vicinity of Blackwell Range but the fire posed no threat to on-post personnel and structures.

The new fire started just hours after Fort Hood's Directorate of Emergency Services Fire Department announced that the fire in the northern portion of the Fort Hood range is now 100 percent contained. A fire in the southern portion of the range remains within the permanent dud area.
