I have mixed feelings about the Temple Mall.

On the one hand, it's sad to see a place I spent so much time in as a kid with so many closed storefronts. It's no secret that malls across the U.S. are feeling the impact of major changes in where and how people shop, particularly with the advent of Amazon and other online giants.

On the other hand, I think all that free space creates opportunities for really cool stuff.

I'm a guy who's not the most fashion conscious person in the world, so when I go to the Temple Mall, it's to check out the FX Game shop, see an IMAX movie, or get some coffee at Peggy's Coffee House. (BTW, in case you've never been, Peggy's has the best coffee in town hands-down. It's not even a contest. Starbucks, eat your heart out.)

I know plenty of people who make use of the awesome (and spacious) Planet Fitness there, too.

That's why I'm excited to see another experience coming to the Temple Mall that's sure to bring the families back.

7 Seas Aquarium is scheduled to open inside the mall in January of 2020. According to their website, the aquarium will feature lazy river boat rides, touch pools, shark and stingray interaction pools, and opportunities to feed the fish on exhibit.

Personally, I'm a sucker for a quality aquarium. There's something so relaxing about watching marine life in a dim room with glowing tanks. I was fascinated by them as a kid, and I bet your kids will be too.

7 Seas Aquarium will have day passes available online soon and, of course, at the door, but you can get early bird family passes on their website today.

NOTE: We've had folks as where the aquarium will be. According to our partners at News 10 (video below), the aquarium will be located in a 5,000 square foot location next door to Great American Cookie Co. That's a relatively small place to pack so much into, but they're determined to make it work.
