Members of the VIve Les Arts Theater called for a vote and decided the popular Killeen Theater will remain open.

A meeting of general members was held Tuesday. KWTX reports tears and laughter filled the meeting as members told their favorite stories about experiences at the theater over the years. A slide show told more about the history of the theater and the struggles that made it look as though it would be forced to close.

Chairman Summer Heidtbrink said upcoming changes to the theater's bylaws will help the group find new board members needed to make a fresh start. When the official announcement came that the theater would remain open, a victorious cheer erupted from the members.

The final vote was 93 in favor of keeping the theater open and 1 in favor of keeping the motion to close.
