Local Brewery Helps Fund Desert Storm War Memorial
If you have spent any time in downtown Belton during the week-long 4th of July celebration you may have passed a booth run by Belton's Bold Republic Brewing Company.
News 10 reports that Texans who stopped at the booth for a cold brew during the celebration have helped Bold Republic Brewing and the Belton Area Chamber of Commerce raise funds to build the National Desert Storm War Memorial in Washington D.C.
The Belton Brewery even crafted a new beer for the occasion called Capt. Jack in honor of the brewery's owner Adriane Hodges, father, Captain Johnathan Edwards, who is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. He was believed to be the first officer killed during the Gulf War.
A number of Texas brewers are joining the cause by making and selling beer to help fund the cause. The memorial fund so far has raised $8.4 million dollars on its way to a goal of $40 million bucks.
