What does the future of Killeen, Texas look like?

At a meeting Wednesday, the 14Forward Foundation presented the findings of a study analyzing population and housing trends. Our partners at KWTX report that the data shows a shift in Bell County's Hispanic population in particular, which grew 613% since 1970.

The study also showed growth from military families, as the population grew by over 6,000 people since 2009 and suggests that Killeen and the area south of I-14  will see further increases in population.

Also, expect to see an estimated 11,000 more students attend Killeen ISD schools within the next 16 years.

That's right - 11,000.

Needless to say, there's going to need to be a great deal of planning and preparation to not only accommodate all those students, but make sure they're well educated and have opportunities that will hopefully make staying in Central Texas worth their time.
