A lot people in Killeen, Texas and across the internet are in an absolute uproar right now, and I would be lying if I didn’t say that I found it completely hilarious. What's got everyone so upset? It turns out it's an ice cream flavor that might not even actually exist.

WHAT'S GOT CENTRAL TEXAS SO UPTIGHT?

There are people online claiming Walmart has launched a Juneteenth-themed ice cream flavor, and the opinions of Central Texans (and plenty of angry people across America) are getting out of hand.

First, let me say that this seems fake to me. If you look around social media and video sites, you'll notice they all use the same uncredited image that looks a little fishy. I couldn't find the ice cream listed on Walmart's retail website, so I actually went to the Walmart in Harker Heights on my way home to check.

I didn't see the alleged ice cream on any shelves, so I asked an employee who told me that they'd never heard of it, it wasn't on their list, and they think it's just a scam. I'm not the only person who suspects it's fake either.

UPDATE: Walmart has reportedly issued a statement to FOX News affiliates saying they've pulled the ice cream after backlash. Hmm.

That's not to say Walmart doesn't have any potentially controversial Juneteenth products. For example, when I looked at their website, I even found Juneteenth bottled water, which looks like it's from a third party called Big Dot of Happiness.

Some people believe that it's just another attempt to profit off a celebration that's meaningful to the African-American community. Then you have the other half of Central Texas who think that it’s not fair that Juneteenth is being recognized so much and people are making it a bigger deal than what it really is. (Although it's worth pointing out that it was made a national holiday in June of 2021.)

Then you have the people like me who are wondering if it's really worth getting angry about. The voice in my head says, "You do understand that this is ice cream, right? We’re getting upset and having our blood pressure rise overs some ice cream."

Don’t get me wrong - I respect the fact that Juneteenth is a part of my history and heritage and it’s something that my children’s children would need to know about.

I think it’s very important that people who are not familiar with Emancipation with Juneteenth understand why there are so many different opinions about how this holiday is celebrated. That said, is the ice cream really worth losing sleep over?
