Joycelyn Savage’s Father Confronts R. Kelly’s Spokesman During Press Conference After Singer’s Arrest
R. Kelly has been arrested for federal sex trafficking charges, but his alleged victim's family only cares about the safety of their daughter, 23-year-old Joycelyn Savage.
Earlier today (July 12), R. Kelly's crisis manager, Darrell Johnson, held a press conference to inform the public of the singer's side of the story. In the middle of his opening statement, Joycelyn's father, Tim Savage, interrupted the presser to ask a question of his own.
"Where's my daughter at?" Savage asked Johnson in video obtained by NBC News. "R. Kelly is in there right now in jail. I want to know where my daughter is. Where is she at? Answer that question!"
Joycelyn Savage is considered to be one of Kelly's victims, however, she is apparently involved in an intimate relationship with him and lived in his home. Her family believes she's been brainwashed, especially after she spoke about their relationship after Surviving R. Kelly debuted on Lifetime in January.
She reportedly confided in friends that the singer sexually assaulted her during their first encounter. Savage's friends have informed federal investigators of the story.
R. Kelly was arrested by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigators yesterday (July 11) for federal sex crimes in both Chicago and New York. This isn't the first time he's been arrested this year, but it is the first time he's been charged with federal sex crimes including sex trafficking. The beleaguered R&B singer pleaded not guilty to 11 felonies related to sexual assault and various abuse in Illinois on June 6.
This comes nearly six months after Kelly was initially hit with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges.
Watch the full press conference below and watch Tim Savage go off on Kelly's team at the 4:10-minute mark.
