Janet Jackson recently saluted her father Joe Jackson who is currently hospitalized with terminal cancer.

On Saturday night (June 23), the music icon was accepting the first-ever Impact Award at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards. Janet used her acceptance speech to honor her family's influence on her music career.

The 52-year-old singer began her acceptance speech, "It’s beautiful, it’s humbling to be recognized as someone that has had a positive impact, but if I have been fortunate enough to impact others it is only because I, myself, have been greatly impacted by positive people in my life."

"My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable, my father, my incredible father, drove me to be the best that I can," she continued. "My siblings set an incredibly high standard, a high bar for artistic excellence...sometimes, having an impact can be as simple as a smile, a handshake, or a hug."

On Friday (June 22), TMZ reported that Joe Jackson was in the hospital with terminal cancer. His wife, Katherine, as well as the rest of the Jackson family, reportedly are at his bedside. Jermaine Jackson told the U.K.'s Daily Mail that the 89-year-old father is "very very frail, he doesn’t have long.”

He later added on his Twitter account, "My father's health is not good, but 'dying' is a harsh word chosen by headline writers, not me. For however long he has left, my mother, siblings, and relatives want to be with him, without hindrance."
