Data Suggests Texas Will Have An Active 2024 Hurricane Season

Hurricane season worries many in the state of Texas.

The state has sadly been hit by some major hurricanes before, an example being Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The weather causes flooding and damage to multiple areas. Thankfully, many Texans are able to prepare for them.

As the season draws closer and closer, predictions for 2024 have been released. The data may make some a little bit worried in the state. Here's what is known at the time of writing.

The Potential Hurricane Season For Texas In 2024

According to Chron, forecasts reveal some troubling data. Colorado State Tropical Weather and Climate Research Center released info about the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf Of Mexico. Their data suggests, that activity in the bodies of water can be considered "extremely active."

At the time of writing predictions are as follows, 23 storms have been named, with 11 hurricanes forecasted, in addition to 5 hurricanes considered to be "major" ones. The ranking of "major' means that the storm could be a category three, four, or five.

Researchers also stated the following:

"Anticipate a well above-average probability for major hurricanes making landfall along the continental United States coastline and in the Caribbean...Given the combined hurricane-favorable signals of an extremely warm Atlantic and a likely developing La Niña, the forecast team has higher-than-normal confidence for an April outlook that the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season will be very active."

While some may be unnerved about the forecast, Chron stated last year Texas was given an "above-average" season in projections. So only time will tell in regards to the predictions.
