Organizers Formally Cancel Event Participation

Kyle S. Reyes, owner of Law Enforcement Today and leader of the organizing team, publicly announced the cancellation on Friday. Reyes confirmed that the musician, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, would no longer participate in the November 17 fundraiser designated to support the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, a group providing financial assistance to families of injured or fallen officers.

Addressing the controversy directly, Reyes criticized Deford's vile jokes, characterizing the television appearance as a display of self-absorption rather than principled speech. Reyes said, “What you did wasn’t strong or in love. It wasn’t the actions of a man. It was the actions of a little boy seeking the approval of man. I’d encourage you to check your heart, brother. Don’t let the ways of this world lead you astray. This isn’t about politics. This is about knowing who you are as a man. And you have much to learn. I very much look forward to honoring God at this gala. I wish you could be a part of it… but I believe that time would be much better spent with you diving into the Bible and finding out who you REALLY are.”

Rising Backlash and Artist Replacement

The controversy deepened throughout Deford's week-long hosting tenure. After receiving pushback from his predominantly conservative fan base, the "Son of a Sinner" vocalist doubled down, explicitly telling offended listeners to stop listening to his music. Despite later claiming to hold centrist political views after he lost several hundred thousand social media followers, many country music fans were not buying it.
