A Quick Look Back at 2023

In 2023, there were several big Texas Lottery scratch-off winners in East Texas. Someone in Nacogdoches won $1 million when he purchased a winning ticket at the Stripes Convenience Store on University Drive.

There were also several big winners last year of $200,000+. Somebody purchased a ticket at the Tobacco Barn by Brookshire Brothers in Huntington and scored $250,000. In Jacksonville, a scratch-off ticket paid out $200,000, and just as the holiday season was getting underway, a person in Tyler won $250,000 with 'The Perfect Gift' scratch-off game.

The Perfect Gift is a $10 scratch-off ticket. According to the Texas Lottery website, approximately 6,120,000 cards were distributed across the state with this game. Seven of those have a top prize of $250,000. The odds of winning the top prize are about 1 in 857,000.

So far, three of those top prizes have been claimed. Besides Tyler and Whitehouse, the other $250K winner came from Round Rock in central Texas.

Mega Millions and Powerball Drawings

The next Mega Millions drawing is tonight (1/5/24). That jackpot is now up to $140 million. The next Powerball drawing is Saturday night with a top prize of $35 million.

These two games have produced four Texas millionaires in the past week. These new millionaires were able to match all five of the non-bonus balls. The winners were from Laredo, Katy, Tomball, and Longview.
