Here’s How Gas Prices In Killeen Compare To Other Texas Cities
Ok, if you haven't paid attention to the news lately you really should. A few weeks ago Russian forces invaded the neighboring country of Ukraine.
Since then gas prices have been rising, but is it because of the invasion? Not really. If you noticed, gas prices were surging way before the Russian aggression. (Though it definitely didn't help.)
Also, who else has spotted one of those stickers with Joe Biden pointing at the prices on the pumps and saying, "I Did That"? Pretty funny!
How Do Killeen Gas Prices Compare To Other Texas Cities?
According to AAA, gas prices for Texas cities, Killeen-Fort Hood surprisingly is one of the cheaper areas in Texas in which to fill your tank. In fact, all of Bell County is offering cheaper than average gas right now.
But how do the prices here compare to other areas in Texas?
Here's the breakdown:
This week, we went above the $4 mark. The national average as of Friday, March 11 was $4.33. The Texas average was $4.01. Here in Bell County, the average was $3.98.
When you zoom in closer, Killeen-Temple was reporting an average of $3.98 per gallon. (Again, that's as of Friday, March 11. Prices could very well go up again over the weekend.)
El Paso has the highest gas prices here in The Lone Star State, with gas costing $4.20 a gallon on average. In fact, all of West Texas is being slammed with high gas prices, believe it or not.
Midland comes in second in terms of high average prices, followed by the Texas side of Texarkana, Odessa, Dallas, and Forth Worth-Arlington.
Amarillo reportedly has the cheapest average gas price in the state at $3.74 a gallon.
Killeen- Fort Hood made the list of cheapest gas prices in Texas, coming in fifth behind Lubbock, Wichita Falls, and Galveston.
How Long is This Going To Last?
Who knows?
For now, I recommend installing the Gas Buddy app on your phone. It'll show you the gas prices in your area from cheapest to most expensive and guide you right to them.
AAA also has a list of suggestions on how to save money on fuel like using cruise control, minimizing the use of the car air conditioner, and driving the speed limit. We know people on 190 will do at least one of those things. Care to guess which?
