I could use a shot of good news, or just a shot and some good news.

Our news partners at KWTX are reporting that bars in Bosque, Falls, Hill, Limestone and McLennan Counties will be able to reopen thanks no longer being considered a high COVID 19 hospitalization area. The report also says that all licensed hospitals in the area will be allowed to resume elective surgeries.

That's some really good news for folks looking to put the last week behind us and grab a drink.

Of course this all could change depending on the hospitalization rate due to COVID-19 in the county, but as long as we do the things we are suppose to be doing, wearing a mask or two and all the other proper social distancing protocols, maybe this time they'll stay open.

Bosque, Falls, Hill, Limestone and McLennan Counties join Bell County, who saw bar opening and restaurants filling to 75% capacity, about 10 day or so ago.

The news also signals that hospitalization due to COVID-19 is down. That may be the best all around news as we approach the one-year mark since the pandemic shut down the world.

Bell County bars reopened earlier this month, and restaurants here were allowed to return to operating at 75% occupancy.

With 75% capacity at local venues, maybe we'll see more artists and bands start to make plans to come through, even more people being allowed to go to sporting events hell, at this rate, maybe even fans in the stands for baseball's Opening Day or even NHL playoffs, assuming the Stars make the playoffs.

Until then, I'll just belly up to the bar and enjoy a nice cold Coors Light, and maybe a round of pool. Who's buying?
