Why does it always seem like the fastest three months of the year are always the summer months of June, July, and August? As we head into July, it may seem like school is getting closer and closer. While it may be approaching faster than some may want, there is still plenty of time to squeeze every bit of fun out of summer.

No need to panic here, but school is still seven weeks away as I write this. Here in the Temple Independent School District, TISD, the 2021-2022 school season is scheduled to start on August 24. Other start dates may vary, and even though it sounds like a long ways away, it'll be here before you know it. In fact, "Back to School" advertising will start here in a couple of weeks, and that'll really make the summer feel like it's moving fast.

I always felt it was important to 'have a summer' and not just sleep all day and play video games all night. These days the kids are up tik toking and snap chatting till every hour of the morning. It's time to disconnect and get out on the road!

Whatever the case, it's good to get out and do something, give the kids a memory that'll last a lifetime, anything to break up the monotony of endless hours of sitting in the room, only coming out to eat and use the bathroom.

With that in mind, here are a few things that are easy to plan, don't take to much of an effort to coordinate, and will give the kids something to enjoy and feel like they spent their summer actually doing something.
