Today we celebrate the birth of an all time great singer, musician, songwriter, and producer, Frankie Beverly who turns 70 today! Born on this day in 1946 in Philadelphia, Frankie started his music career at the age of 12. As a teenager, in the late 60's Frankie would start a music group called "The Butlers" which caught the attention of legendary producer Kenny Gamble who signed them to a record deal. After a few years of touring, Frankie & "The Butlers" would move out to California and rename their band "Raw Soul" which landed them an opening slot on tour for Marvin Gaye. It was Marvin who suggested to Frankie that the group change its name.... "MAZE" became their choice and the rest is history!

Frankie and Maze will always hold a special place in my heart because they were the first concert I ever went to as a kid in the 80's and I never forgot how magical that was! So, in honor of Frankie's birthday, here are 5 of my favorite Frankie Beverly Featuring Maze Jams!

    Golden Time Of Day

Can you think of a better song title that matches a song completely? "Golden" is exactly what it represents, the perfect song to end your workday with or to just cruise around to.

    Happy Feelings

Happiness is hard for many to describe and of course its in the eye of the beholder, but "Happy Feelings" somehow perfectly describes how one should wish to "spread them all over the world".
