KWTX is reporting Governor Abbott announced that East Penn Manufacturing Company plans to expand its distribution center.

That's great news for the city of Temple as the leading battery manufacturers distribution center is on Charter Oaks Drive in Temple. The expansion will have East Penn make a $106 million capital investment, as well create 266 new jobs.

Abbott also said that a Texas Enterprise grant offer of $1,356,600 was extended to the company.

Temple Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Adrian Cannady said...

"We are excited about East Penn's expressed intention to invest in our 305-acre, shovel ready industrial park. We look forward to working with East Penn in an effort to finalize the documentation needed to move forward with construction of their state-of-the-art facility".

According to East Penn's website, the 70 year-old company started out in a one room shop and has expanded to a company with more than 8,000 employees and 450 product designs.
