It's been 75 years since the City of Temple developed the community's first public park, and they're celebrating this diamond anniversary with a free party in the park.

The celebration happens this Saturday, November 16 from 1 PM to 4 PM at Ferguson Park, 1203 East Adams Avenue.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and socialize with friends and neighbors while celebrating the wonderful parks that make the Temple community such a great place to live and play.

There'll be live music, games, and refreshments. It is a party, after all. The weather should be sunny with a high of 61, which is pretty great for this time of year.

Temple's parks are some of the best features of our community and something to be proud of. Did you know Jackson Park is the oldest in town? It was developed in the late 1940's at a time when the population was booming post-World War II. 75 years ago, the people of Temple approved a bond issue including $22,500 for park improvements, which lead to the creation of the Temple Parks Department to oversee and manage our parks.

This Saturday, we celebrate these beautiful public spaces where so many of us made happy memories as kids.
