Fatal Accident on SH 36 Under Investigation by Temple Police Department

Early Saturday morning at approximately 1:52 a.m., officers from the Temple Police Department responded to a traffic accident in the 500 block of State Highway 9D, according to KWTX. The incident involved a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle.

Upon arrival, officers began an investigation into what was quickly determined to be a tragic and fatal accident. Preliminary findings revealed that the motorcycle was traveling westbound at a very high rate of speed when it struck the rear of the vehicle. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the bike and thrown over a guardrail.

Tragically, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.

The Temple Police Department’s Traffic Unit has taken over the investigation.
