Local law enforcement Immediately advised the community to avoid the area, then called in the McLennan County bomb squad to examine the device. Fox 44 reports that McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara confirmed the device was verified as a live pipe bomb.

After receiving the call, members of the Austin bomb squad arrived at the McLennan County range to assist with the dismantling of the device.

In order to safely disassemble the explosive, Sheriff McNamara stated that the bomb unit employed the use of a special device to cut into it. Once cut, the device was able to be safely taken apart, and its contents have been removed and will be traced back to their origin.

Temple officers resumed their search at the home later Monday afternoon after the area was deemed clear of any threat. A man and woman were detained when the bomb was discovered, but further details have yet to be released.

The public was notified at approximately 2:30 PM that officers had safely removed the device from the residence, and that the roadways were clear. The incident is still under investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms is also involved with the case.
