Copperas Cove, Texas is a great place to call home, but no community is perfect. There's always room for improvement, especially when it comes to public safety. That's why the Copperas Cove Police Department is asking folks to fill out a quick online survey.

How Quick is the Copperas Cove Police Department Citizen Survey?

Don't worry. You won't be spending an hour filling this thing out.

The survey is 16 questions long.

The first seven questions simply ask you to rate the CCPD on a scale from 1 to 5 on things like visibility, professionalism, officer competency, and courtesy.

What About the Other Nine Questions?

Here's where you can really express yourself.

Questions 8 through 16 ask you to write a bit about how safe you feel walking alone in your neighborhood, whether or not you've met your sector officer, and how you feel the CCPD has changed over the past five years.

I'm About to Skew the Survey Results

Two questions on the survey stand out to me: "Are you aware of our Cove Watch program?" and "Are you aware of our Video Surveillance Partners program?".

These are actually really cool programs you should look into if you live in Copperas Cove.

The Cove Watch program lets you sign up for text and email alerts about what's going on in your area. The example the department uses is alerts sent to residents if there's a growing number of burglaries in a certain section of town.

If you sign up for the Video Surveillance Partner Program, you can actually help police solve crimes by letting them know you may have video evidence that could be useful. Police know more citizens are installing their own Ring cams and other security camera systems, and if you sign up for this program, they'll reach out to you if they think your camera may have captured footage that could help with an investigation.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.
