Copperas Cove police is letting the community know that even though we're in the middle of a pandemic, criminals won't let that stop them from doing what they do.

CCPD is asking for your help in identifying a man who at least looked like he was trying to protect himself from catching COVID-19 but used his disguise for more sinister purposes....and got scared and left.

According to press release CCPD's Lt. Kevin Miller, a suspect described as being a black male that was 5 ft. 9 in. to 5 ft. 11 in., wearing a thick blue winter coat, no gloves, and a blue scarf around his mouth and nose, entered the Copperas Cove Wal-Mart on Tuesday morning just before 9:00 AM and attempted to rob one of the registers.

According to police, During the robbery, the suspect handed the employee a note demanding money from the register. In the note the suspect threatened to shoot people if his demands were not met. During a short delay by the employee, the suspect picked up his note and departed the store. The suspect did not obtain money or items during the incident.

The suspect fled on foot from the store and ran towards 402 Constitution Drive where he entered into a white sedan and drove away.
