With many sports on hold due to the current pandemic, the City of Killeen Parks & Recreation Department will be bringing expert coaching to help develop skills of young athletes.

According to a press release we received from Killeen Communications Director Hilary Shine, Killeen Parks & Rec is inviting young athletes to develop athletic skills this summer by participating in July camps and workshops.

Maximize Potential is offering Athlete Speed School July 18 and 25 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Lions Club Park. Sessions are for athletes age 12 and older and focus on improving athletic ability using a four-part training model: prime, perform, power, protect. The cost is $15 per player per session.

Lonestar Soccer Club is putting on a week long soccer camp July 20 through July 24 from 8 AM to Noon at Lions Club Park. Participants must have been born between 2005 and 2015. Nationally licensed staff will offer customized instruction for all skill levels. Scrimmages and an end-of-week tournament will put new skills into action. The cost is $100 per player.

And finally, Breakthrough Basketball Coach Tasheba Butler will lead a shooting and offensive skills camp July 28 through July 30th from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Family Recreation Center. Boys and girls in grades 5th through 12th will learn shooting fundamentals and specialized techniques for improving speed, accuracy and agility. The cost is $245 per player.
