The City of Killeen has several fun and FREE family events taking place this weekend at the Killeen Community Center and you don't want to miss them!

The fun kicks off Friday night with the annual Tree Lighting event at the Killeen Community Center on Veterans Memorial Boulevard from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Santa Claus will arrive at 7 p.m. to light the 50-foot silhouette holiday tree and will stay to pose for photos with children and listen to wish lists. There will also be live entertainment, arts and crafts, cupcake decorating, train rides, and a Killeen Rocks flashlight rock hunt.

There will also be a movie in the park screening of Polar Express starting at 8 p.m. at the Amphitheater. Bring a blanket or chair to enjoy this holiday classic complete with hot cocoa and cookies.

The fun continues on Saturday (Dec. 2) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Santa and Mrs. Claus, arts and crafts, an art bus, a car show and character appearances. Breakfast in Toyland from 8 to 10 a.m. will feature a full pancake breakfast with Santa for $5 in advance and $6 at the event.

The Jingle Bell Dash 5K race sponsored by Schlotzsky's Deli starts at 8 a.m. and runners and walkers can register online now at killeentexas.gov/centex.
