A school principal in the state of Texas has been taken into custody after it was found he had illicit material involving children on his phone. Here's what is known at the time of writing.

Law Enforcement Called About Mysterious Social Media Video. Chad Barrett Arrested

According to ABC13 Houston, police in Liberty County were summoned to Hardin Junior High School after a concerned mother and student alerted them to an issue with a video. The video in question was reported to have been sent to the student. The sender of said video was alleged to be the principal of the school. Chad Barrett.

Barrett did indeed talk to law enforcement when they requested to talk to him. While inquires were in progress, police obtained Barrett's cell phone. On the phone, they found illicit material in the form of both pictures and videos that were identified as child porn.

Barrett was then arrested, and now faces the charges of possession/promotion of child pornography charges, as reported by ABC13 Houston.

School Releases Statement, Police Ask Students To Talk To Their Parents

The school district released a statement in regards to the situation, part of it stating:

"...The District has been in direct contact with law enforcement and is assisting in an investigation. We are deeply troubled by this report and have zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior and expect all district employees to adhere to the highest standards of conduct. The employee has been removed from school grounds and placed on administrative leave.

Due to the seriousness of the allegations, and to respect the privacy of all persons involved, the District will not be providing any additional information about this matter. We respectfully ask everyone to refrain from speculation regarding the allegations as it may have the unintended consequence of interfering with the ongoing investigation..."
