TEXANS WILL NEED TO PREPARE FOR CHANGE WITH THEIR VEHICLES IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR

Beginning January 1, 2025, the state will modify its vehicle safety inspection program, largely eliminating most safety inspections under House Bill 3297. Texans have asked all over the state, why the changes. In 2023, Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill from the 88th Legislature that abolished the safety inspection requirement for non-commercial vehicles. Texans have asked will the changes to this law for Texas vehicles be beneficial. Most Texans are excited about the new law and other Texans have said it is not such a big deal.

TEXANS WILL NEED TO PROPERLY PREPARE FOR VEHICLE CHANGES HAPPENING IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR

Starting this New Year, non-commercial vehicles won’t need a safety inspection before registration; however, they will still be required to pay a $7.50 fee to replace the inspection program. Additionally, newly purchased vehicles in Texas that have never been registered in the state or elsewhere will incur an initial inspection program replacement fee of $16.75 for the next two years. Texans must stay informed, as significant changes will take effect on January 1.
