Mikayla Rishae Rodwell, a 22-year-old woman from Texas, has been charged with endangerment of a child and cruelty to non-livestock animals, according to KWTX. Rodwell was arrested at her residence in Waco, Texas, after officials discovered her living in an apartment infested with roaches and covered in feces, while her one-year-old child also lived in the unsanitary conditions.

According to Waco Police, on April 2, the department received multiple referrals from CPS, indicating that the young child was not being properly cared for. The reports described that the child had not been bathed, was not dressed appropriately for the weather, had a diaper rash, and was living in a home infested with roaches.

In a separate room, officials found a dog that had been taken in by Rodwell but had no food or water. The dog appeared to be scratching and whimpering at the door.

Rodwell has been arrested and is currently held in the McLennan County Jail with a total bond set at $7,000.
