Waco police believe the body of a child found in a dumpster is that of missing 2-year-old  Frankie Gonzalez, who was the subject of an AMBER Alert issued Monday evening.

Police announced Tuesday morning that the remains of a child were found in a dumpster near Parklake Baptist Church, 27th and Alice Avenue. The deceased child's identity and cause of death could not be confirmed late Tuesday morning, as investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Our partners at News 10 report that search efforts at Cameron Park, believed to be where Frankie was last seen in a restroom area near the splash pads in Pecan Bottoms, have been suspended. The park had been closed around 2 PM Monday as searchers and investigators worked to find Frankie.

The boy's relatives were reportedly interviewed until 12:30 AM Tuesday. Police have not commented on these interviews or stated that they have any suspects in the boy's disappearance.

An officer who spoke to the press Tuesday morning could not comment on how investigators were alerted to the body's presence in the dumpster.
