Two Killeen Men Held On Bonds Totaling Over $1 Million After Alleged Drug Deal Turned Robbery

Two Killeen men were being held in the Bell County Jail Tuesday morning in lieu of bonds totaling over $1 million after allegedly trying to rob a man during a drug deal, resulting in the man jumping from a moving car to escape.

Jail records indicate that Anthony Wayne Nash III, 20, was booked into the jail at 4 PM on April 29 and charged with first degree felony aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $500,000. An alleged accomplice, Martez Shakur Straughter, 21, was booked on April 19 and faces the same charge as Nash III, with an additional charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member. His bonds total $505,000.

The Killeen Daily Herald's Emily Hilley-Sierzchula reports that the victim met Nash III, who he knew as Chris, and Straughter to buy marijuana on March 22. The two allegedly entered the man's car and pointed guns at him, asking if he wanted to die. The victim says they then told him to drive to his home so they could loot the place.

The victim reportedly jumped from the moving vehicle, and was covered in road rash injuries when police responded to his call about the robbery.

Hilley-Sierzchula reports that police found Straughter's hand print in the victim's car, and that the victim picked Nash III out of a photo lineup.

Gee, it's almost as if associating with drug dealers is dangerous or something.
