The Texas heat is in full swing, and many are turning to air conditioning to stay cool. However, AC units in the state of Texas will always need repair. But for one man in Troy, relief has been hard to come by.

What Is The Situation With John Simmons In Troy?

Per KCEN, John Simmons has been a resident of Troy for almost eight years. However recently things have been going well for him. His AC Unit has broken down, and to say the least, repairs aren't an option for him.

Thanks to a local church in the area, Simmons does have three fans to try and keep things cool, but it's doing little to no help. At the time of writing, his home tops out at 90 degrees some days.

Why Can't Simmons Fix His AC Unit?

The AC Unit's indoor coil is the main problem. According to a repair tech, the amount of money needed to fully fix the AC could be over $1,000. But for Simmons, he doesn't have the funds to do so.

Simmons told KCEN:

“I just don’t have the money...My wife left me four months ago. That was half my income gone. My van’s broken down. I’m dealing with health issues. I’ve got no more family. I’m just completely alone.”

Simmons has asked the community for help, but he also understands that some make take his asking for help the wrong way:

“I’m not asking for money. I’m just asking for help fixing this air conditioner...If I could pay it back somehow, I would. But right now, I just can’t.”

As this is a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
