I love holidays, but I'm probably not the best at celebrating them correctly.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I typically associate turkey day with food and football and maybe, just maybe, I'll think about my wonderful family and all that I'm thankful for.

I come from a huge family and every year everyone does their best to all get together under one roof. It's a grand ol' time. We cook (I usually don't), we laugh, the parade and game are on the TV, oh and in the evening we have pie. Yum!

We've never gone around the dinner table and said what we're thankful for. Again, big ol' family. It would take forever. Everyone else is probably thinking about it. But I don't.

Where am I going with this? Good question, thanks for getting me back on track. Okay, I don't want a holiday to be the reason I have gratitude for all the wonderful things in my life, but it doesn't hurt for it to be a little reminder.

Having access to clean running water is a reason to smile. I have gotten caught up in the ways of the world a time or two, where it's fashionable to believe the world owes me something. It doesn't.

Not to say hard work doesn't pay off. I believe it does, just not always as we planned and occasionally not at all.

So I'm thankful every day and the moments I'm not, well they're moments they'll pass. I have friends, family, a fire in my heart that rarely goes unattended and access to running water.
