Texas Highway I-35 Could Be Renamed After Trump, Lawmakers Introduce Bill
The infamous Interstate Highway 35 in Texas may be changing its name to honor the 45th and 47th president, Donald J. Trump, according to Spectrum One News. This could make "Donald Trump Highway" a reality. If approved, the change will take effect on September 1.

Lawmakers Propose Renaming I-35 as ‘President Donald J. Trump Highway
Joanne Shofner of Nacogdoches, a Republican representative, is the one advocating for renaming the interstate in Travis County after President Trump. Representative Shofner is a proud supporter of President Trump and was endorsed by him for Texas House District 11 when she began her term on January 14, 2025.
Legislation Aims to Rename I-35 as ‘President Donald J. Trump Highway
If this request is approved, House Bill 5503 will establish markers to designate the highway, placing signs to show that the stretch is now officially named the President Donald J. Trump Highway. The ninth-largest highway in the nation runs from Laredo, Texas, all the way to Minnesota. It would certainly be an honor to have a highway named after you, but after driving on I-35 as long as I’ve been a Texan, I’m not sure if Interstate 35 is ready to take on the responsibility of being named after one of the most talked-about man in the country. What do you think, Texas? Are you ready for the highway’s name to change?
