
City of Temple Takes On Addiction with New Treatment Facility
According to KDH News, the Temple City Council has authorized a conditional permit for a substance abuse treatment facility to be established across the street from a former dispensary. The property is located at 118 S. 25th Street. If the city grants final approval, True Restoration at The Restoration House will open its fourth local location.

A New Approach: Temple's Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Targets Community Needs
Thaddeus Henderson, a licensed professional counselor with a doctorate in counseling, emphasized the danger of alcohol use. “Alcohol is more of a gateway drug, if we’re being honest,” Henderson said. “You don’t have to hide behind a building—you can go to a grocery store or a corner store and buy it. And alcohol kills more people. You can actually die detoxing from it.”
Temple Fights Back: New Substance Abuse Facility to Serve the Community
He added that his primary concerns aren’t necessarily centered on marijuana. “As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t call marijuana a gateway drug,” he explained. “I’m more concerned about meth, fentanyl, and, of course, alcohol.”Supporters hope the City of Temple will give final approval so more people can get a fresh start and a new outlook on life.
