Bell County authorities are on the hunt for a man who was caught with marijuana after a traffic stop conducted Thursday in Temple.

KWTX's Brandon Hamilton reports that the man who was caught with the marijuana escaped from the grasp of Bell County deputies as they were changing handcuffs.

Police say the suspect may be armed and dangerous.

The suspect was the passenger in a car that was pulled over for speeding through a school zone in Temple on FM 93. The deputy who made the traffic stop smelled marijuana in the vehicle, and the passenger admitted it was his. The suspect was apprehended, but managed to escape when deputies were changing his handcuffs outside a patrol car.

A gun and other drugs were found stashed in the vehicle as well. Investigators are asking anyone with any information to call the Bell County Sheriff's Department at (254) 933-5412.
