"Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling recording artist Reminisce “Remy Ma” Mackie voluntarily turned herself into police custody for questioning on the morning of Wednesday, May 1st after being accused of allegedly striking 30-year old local rapper, Brittney Taylor.
The alleged incident was said to have taken place nearly 3 weeks ago at Irving Plaza in New York City, where Remy Ma was scheduled to perform for a cancer benefit concert. Taylor, who was not invited to attend the event, accused Mackie of giving her a black eye. Thus far, there's no credible evidence to corroborate Taylor’s story. Remy Ma was promptly released on a $1500 cash bail with a pending charge of a misdemeanor.
Remy’s legal team, consisting of renowned New York Criminal Lawyer Dawn Florio and her legal consultant - New York Civil Rights Lawyer Eric Sanders are vigorously protecting her legal interests and her brand and will aggressively pursue related legal actions as necessary. In addition to the fact that Taylor bypassed numerous police officers that were on the scene to post allegations on her Instagram page and hired a civil lawyer, who is known for high profile lawsuits, both of Remy’s lawyers assert there's credible evidence to support that this is a baseless case and nothing more than a money grab attempt.
Remy is currently still on parole. She has approximately 85 days of supervision left of her 5-year post-release sentence. Nevertheless, for the past 4 years and 9 months she has been a model citizen by maintaining employment, completing all mandatory programs, staying drug free, adhering to all rules and has never even had a curfew violation.
Meanwhile, Remy remains focused on her family and taking care of her 4-month old daughter with her husband of 11 years, her new music being released and her clothing line ”Remy Ma By Vim Vixen” where each purchase drives her philanthropic efforts to support women & children impacted by incarceration, assisting with family reunification and career development for released women through The Remy Ma Foundation.
Remy’s only request is that her family be respected and she personally thanks all the fans fortheir unwavering love and support.
UPDATE: On Thursday (May 2), TMZ reported that Remy Ma could be facing a parole violation for allegedly punching Brittney Taylor in the face at a concert in April.
Sources in law enforcement told the media outlet that the assault case has sparked an investigation by the New York State's Division of Parole. Since Remy is on parole (after serving six years in prison for a 2007 shooting), she could be facing some serious jail time if officials feel that Remy violated her conditions.
Meanwhile, Taylor's attorney, Sandy Rubenstein, told News 12 the Bronx that his client's assault case is a serious matter and not made up for reality television. Rubenstein said that police have gathered credible physical evidence and testimonies from eyewitnesses that will help bring the case to a jury. When Rubenstein was asked what he had to say to Remy Ma's attorney, he replied, "See you in court."

UPDATE: TMZ reports that on May 1, the day Remy Ma was arrested, the Bronx rapper posted a $1,500 bond and was released from jail.
Remy's attorney Dawn Florio reportedly says that Brittney Taylor is lying about the attack, citing Remy's supposed presence at her own home at the time of the attack as proof of the deception.
The Terror Squad rapper has reportedly been hit with an order of protection and she's not allowed to have any contact with Taylor. Remy also has an 8 p.m. curfew.
According to sources at TMZ, the rapper is now in the custody of law enforcement after being accused of punching her former Love & Hip-Hop New York co-star, Brittney Taylor two weeks ago. The celebrity news site says Remy turned herself in on Wednesday (May 1) and that she was booked for misdemeanor assault.
Taylor, who uploaded an Instagram post pointing the finger at Remy two weeks ago, says the rapper punched her backstage at the Pretty Lou Benefit concert in New York City's Irving Plaza on April 16. Speaking with the New York Daily News, Taylor claimed that she was assaulted by Remy after the Bronx rapper asked her about her involvement in an attack on Remy's stepdaughter, Dejanae.
“What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive [when Brittney told her at Irving],” Taylor told NYDN. “[Remy] was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face.”
Taylor added, “I just don’t feel like it’s okay for people to put their hands on someone that’s not being malicious to them, that’s being genuine.”
