In the last couple of months, I’ve spoken with certain small business owners in Killeen, Texas that would like to remain anonymous about the break-ins that are happening all over the city. I spoke to a business owner, in particular, who explained to me that he feels after his business is broken into no one is truly concerned about the outcome. I was aware that our great men and women who are law enforcement in the city are trying their best and doing their best, but there are a lot of business owners that feel like due to the fact that violent crimes are receiving the most attention, that break-ins in Killeen are being treated as a minimum priority.

The anonymous business owner also explained to me that he is very excited that the fact that we are in the process of electing, a new chief of police, in the city of Killeen, Texas, not to say that Chief Kimblle wasn’t a great leader of the city, but business owners are ready for change and more effective action. The reality of it is those small business owners get up every single day and try to provide for their children just like any other hard-working individual in the city of Killeen.

But they do not feel like they are being heard, and that’s pretty much why they’ve asked me to write this open letter. I think it’s truly important as well that as a community when you see something happening to one of our small business owners establishments, you report it, you wouldn’t want anybody doing this to your family and the reality of it is if you are a part of our community, you are family and we have to take care of one another. I don’t know what the outcome will be once we have a new chief of police but business owners in Killeen are saying they’re ready for more effective action.
