All of those restaurant chains could have been named as Texas' #1 chain but there was one that definitely trumps them all.

Mashed looked at several factors when deciding each states "best" chain including "recommendations, online reviews, awards and other forms of recognition, and first-hand taste-testing." With that in mind it's no surprise which is considered #1 here in Texas.

Yep, shocking right? Whataburger really is one of Texas' biggest brands. It's right up there with The Dallas Cowboys, Dr Pepper and The Alamo. Ask someone to name a handful of things that are truly Texan and Whataburger will almost always get mentioned.

From what started as a family run hamburger shop in Corpus Christi in 1950, has grown to almost 900 locations throughout the southern U.S. It's not only Texas' favorite anymore, folks in Florida, Arizona, Colorado and beyond are finding out why it's such an iconic part of Texas history.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.
