My spring break came and went in a flash and normally I attend SXSW in Austin but after 9 consecutive years of attending, I decided to spend some time with my family and I went up to the DMV (Washington D.C., Maryland & Virginia) to check out the monuments I never got the chance to see when I first visited last year with my oldest son who attends college there.

Our first stop was in Baltimore, where we took in the sights of the "Inner Harbor" and enjoyed some fresh seafood. Check out "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" there for a fun time with your family, I got lost in the "Mirror Maze" there:

After an evening in B-More, we hopped on the MARC and went down to DC and took made a few stops including a stop at the National Portrait Gallery to check out the recently unveiled portraits of Barack and Michelle Obama which were clearly the favorites of everyone in attendance there:

Also saw a lot of amazing portraits and cool stuff like Katherine Hepburn's Oscars and more!

Of course stopped by the seats of power including the White House & Capitol Hill, but the moment that took my breath away and made me emotional was standing in the spot where Dr. Martin Luther King gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech.

As I looked out over the Mall, I got emotional and began to cry as I thought about my great-grandfather who was there that historic day in DC when Dr. King gave that speech. I thought about his face being one of the thousands in the crowd who was there to fight for our civil rights and how I enjoy SOME of the freedoms that they fought for but still have more to fight for. I'm truly thankful for their sacrifices and I know that I get to live my dreams thanks to them.

As I wrap this up, can I ask DC folks why yall aint been sharing "Mambo Sauce" with your brothers and sisters across the country? If you don't know, Mambo Sauce is delicious sauce you won't find on any menu and its made at various "carryout" restaurants throughout the city. It goes well with EVERYTHING but most DC folks will tell you that it goes best with fried chicken. WHY YALL DON'T SHARE WITH THE REST OF US??

On behalf of my family, I want to thank everyone in the DMV for their hospitality! You can check out some more photos from my trip on my Instagram!
