According to FOX 44, the Killeen Police Department is encouraging not only residents but also local businesses to help keep the city safe. KPD Connect is a new system introduced by the department in partnership with Fusus. Its goal is to strengthen public safety by integrating security feeds, video footage, and other safety tools, helping officers respond more quickly and effectively to incidents.

In researching this initiative, I found it to be both innovative and potentially transformative. It not only fosters interaction between the community and law enforcement but also opens the door to building genuine relationships. At the end of the day, the Killeen Police Department is here to protect and serve, and residents deserve to live peacefully and comfortably in their communities. This partnership represents a much-needed step toward stronger collaboration.

Through KPD Connect, citizens can register their security cameras to help identify areas where video surveillance is available in the event of an incident. If something occurs near your property, officers or detectives may contact you via email to request video footage. It’s important to note that registering your camera does not give KPD access to your live feed—it simply informs the department that a camera is present and could be helpful during an investigation. For years, I’ve heard about the strained relationship between residents and law enforcement. I truly believe initiatives like this have the potential to change that.
