We hope your family had a wonderful holiday season this year! Now that's its coming to an end, its about time to think about what you're going to do with your tree if you have a real one. The City of Killeen is offering some help.

According to a press release from Killeen Executive Director of Communications Hilary J. Shine, the city will host a free Christmas tree recycling event on Saturday, January 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Killeen Special Events Center located at 3301 South W.S. Young Drive.

Trees are chipped and shredded on site and offered back to participants as mulch for use on their lawns or gardens. All ornaments, lights, tinsel and other decorations must be removed prior to dropping off trees.

How about kicking off a new family tradition of taking DOWN the decorations together as a family and get your tree ready for recycling. For more details on this recycling event and other, visit killeentexas.gov/recycle.
