Killeen’s Celebrity Chef Shares Her Famous Comfort Food Chili Recipe
In celebration of the fall season beginning today, I thought it would only be right that we start this season off correctly. When I think of the autumn season and cool, cozy weather, two words definitely come to mind: "COMFORT" and "FOOD".
Just the thought of a bowl of some delicious creamy chicken and dumplings is enough to get my heart racing. Or, if you like heat and a little kick, some Cajun-style seafood or chicken and sausage gumbo, hearty beef stew, or my all-time favorite, just a good old fashion American chili.
Yummy Yummy in My Tummy!
A good, flavorful bowl of chili is one of those things you can spice up however you want, whether you go with ground beef, turkey, chicken, or really wanna take a walk on the wild side and go vegan.
If you're anything like me, your chili's topped off with some shredded Colby Jack cheese, green onions, and crackers.
In Search of the Perfect Recipe
Everyone's got their own style, but there's a chef here in Killeen who has one of the absolute best recipes. Luckily for you and me, and she's willing to share it!
Comfort Food At Its Best
I wanted to see if anyone in Central Texas had an exceptional chili recipe, and I knew asking Teira "TB" Bostick, owner and chef of TB’s Tastee Eatz and TB’s Tastee Treatz, was the first step down the path to culinary bliss.
TB is also a local celebrity chef who has worked with the likes of the always hysterical JessHilarious, and she's a favorite of the comedians who take the stage at Twice as Funny Comedy Lounge in Killeen. This woman is known to always cook with love and originality, and she’s definitely a woman who believes in cooking from scratch.
Because of that, I knew I had to share her recipe with all of Central Texas on this chilly Wednesday. (With her blessing, of course.)
They say the way to a man’s heart is his stomach, but here in the Great State of Texas, we say, " the way to a Texan's heart is barbecue and chili". Now that summer is officially over and we're done with barbecue, let’s talk chili!
You Gotta Try This Chili
To Bean or Not to Bean
Now, I know what some of you are thinking: beans don't belong in chili! Agree to disagree, but Texas is a house divided on this. If it's not your thing, just leave out the beans. Easy breezy!
Whatever you do, don't forget to enjoy!
