Crossing Guard Slammed Trying To Break Up A Fight in Killeen, Texas
When I first heard about this story, I was in complete shock that this could happen in Killeen, Texas, let alone in our schools.
HOW DOES SOMETHING SO HORRIBLE HAPPEN AT A KILLEEN MIDDLE SCHOOL?
Jacob Brooks with the Killeen Daily Herald reports that some students and adults could face charges after a fight took place, during which an intervening crossing guard was bodyslammed.
The violent incident reportedly happened on January 12 near Smith Middle School. Because we now love in an era of ubiquitous social media, a video of the melee quickly found its way online and was spreading like wildfire across various websites and apps.
Killeen ISD police say two female students were involved in the incident. The footage reportedly shows the two confront each other near a crossing and start fighting as a crowd begins to form. A nearby crossing guard tries to help, after which they're approached by someone in a green hoodie and slammed to the ground.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING IN OUR SCHOOLS? WHO IS TO BLAME FOR THE CHAOS?
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ALL THE PARTIES INVOLVED IN THE MALAY THAT TOOK PLACE?
Crossing guards are not supposed to get involved in altercations at school, but in my opinion, sometimes it makes sense to get involved to defuse a situation. KISD has not released any names or ages of everyone who is being charged, parents included but it is said that they will be charged to the fullest extent.
