Beware This Scammer Targeting Killeen, Texas Business Owners
One thing about Killeen, Texas: we take care of our own. That includes the local businesses that help give our community its distinctive personality. So, when I heard about a new scam that's targeting Texas business owners and entrepreneurs by pretending to be one of their own, I had to share the info with you.
TEXAS: BEWARE OF BUSINESS SCAMMERS
Events With Amey is a two-time award-winning small business owner and entrepreneur here in Central Texas. Over the past couple of years, this young lady has been organizing events to help other local business owners network with each other and grow their enterprises.
Amey is trusted and well respected in Central Texas, so of course a scammer had to come along and try to use her good name to take advantage of people trying to become successful.
BE CAREFUL WHO YOU TRUST ON FACEBOOK
Amey recently took to Facebook to warn entrepreneurs and business owners about an alleged scammer by the name of Jafar Janet. Whoever is behind the profile is sending potential vendors copies of contracts with Amey's information attached to it, as well as links for payment.
This has apparently been going on for at least a couple of weeks.
LOOK FOR THE SIGNS OF SCAMMERS
What this means is this woman is trying to make some money off the name of the Events With Amey brand.
Amey says Jafar Janet is sending out event flyers and payment links that look authentic. Please do your research before sending your money to someone. This is a very disgusting situation, but it also goes to show the lengths people will go to in order to try to scam someone.
If you receive any messages from the Jafar Janet account, please report it to Facebook. In the meantime, you can find the authentic Amey on her Facebook page here or at eventswithamey@gmail.com.
