If you frequent Interstate 14/US 190, you share it with countless people who are more important than the rest of us and deserve to go 90 and swerve in and out of traffic because they have places to be.

These VIPs are getting a heads-up along with the rest of us. The Killeen Police Department has announced that officers will be out catching speeders and other unsafe drivers Tuesday.

According to KPD spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez:

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a speed enforcement detail on Interstate-14 on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Officers’ will be monitoring the speed of vehicles with a certified laser and will radio other police units of the violator(s).

The Killeen Police Department is committed to the safety of the community and wants to everyone to drive safely. Please remember faster speeds will increase stopping distances and not only put the driver at risk, but also everyone else around them.

I don't have an official word on this, but I'm assuming they'll have a few extra officers out Monday and Wednesday as well. Stick to the speed limit and drive safely no matter the day or the circumstances.
