UPDATE: Police reported shortly before 2 PM  Tuesday that they were beginning to clear the scene at Mulford Street.

The Killeen Daily Herald's Thaddeus Imerman reports that the standoff came to an end when police shot the suspect with a non-lethal round, then deployed a K-9. Thankfully, no one other than the suspect was reported injured.

Killeen police found themselves trying to diffuse yet another standoff Tuesday after handling a similar incident the night before.

At 12:36 PM Tuesday, Killeen Police advised the public that they were working the scene of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm in the 1400 block of Mulford Street.

Our partners at News 10 report that a man had barricaded himself inside a house. Police had closed several streets in the area and were asking people to avoid the area.

We're awaiting further details.

This is the second disturbance-turned-stand-off in Killeen in less than 24 hours.

Around 4:45 PM Monday, police were called to the 500 block of 58th Street. There, a man with a gun fired a shot into the air and fled into a house with a woman. The man was arrested around 7 PM after negotiating with police. News 10 reports that the woman inside the home was not threatened or injured and was able to safely leave.

Police did not release the gunman's name or detail the charges against him.

Drivers had to find a way around the scene, as police shut down both the east and westbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Boulevard from 54th Street to Twin Creek, and nearby residents were asked to shelter in place.

We're all under a lot of stress right now, especially with the holidays coming up. However, there's no reason to let things escalate into a police stand-off. If a situation is heating up, just walk away and cool down. It's not worth putting anyone's life at risk.
