A Killeen man accused of sexually assaulting a woman and issuing threats against her and her boyfriend was in the Bell County Jail Thursday.

KWTX reports that 54-year-old Martin Fitzgerald Gray was arrested in Temple Wednesday. Investigators allege Gray went to his ex-girlfriend's house on May 12, 2017 and, wielding a knife, forced her to engage in sexual activity. As he left the woman's home, he reportedly told her he loved her and that he would kill her and any man he witnessed her dating.

Police say they became aware of the attack after the victim's coworker, concerned for her safety, tried to call her and heard disturbing sounds when she answered her phone. The victim also tried to dial 911 during the attack, which investigators say prompted Gray to destroy her phone.

Jail records indicate Gray was booked into the Bell County Jail at 3:06 PM that day on charges of first degree felony aggravated sexual assault and assault causing bodily injury to a family member. A bench warrant was also listed. Fitzgerald's bonds totaled $155,000. According to records, Gray has a Killeen address.
